And maybe Keates is looking for that type of striker now. Perhaps there aren't as many players available that would improve us?
I don't think budget is an issue given the rumours regarding Cook. I think its down to getting the right player in. Maybe Keates is being too fussy, who knows?

Agree. We are not good enough in midfield, so nearly all balls to the forwards are head high and therefore difficult to control and score from. We have issues with our forwards, but these are mostly symptoms of lack of creativity and too much hoof-ball.

Neither Rutherford nor Kelly are 'proper wingers', whilst Mackreth seems to have been carrying an injury from the off. Despite his receiving some criticism I think Wedgebury is a good player who has done well so far. Carrington is fine ar fullback but too ponderous in midfield, especially alongside Wedgebury. I had hoped for better from Akil Wright: although he is raw and goes missing too often, I think he offers an attacking threat at pace. As someone suggested, maybe either Kelly or preferably Holroyd needs to sit in the hole behind the 2 strikers.

Ultimately, DK has tried to attract 'quality players' but the evidence so far would suggest most are either not good enough or way off the pace. Clearly we are not yet good enough, and DK needs to address our deficiencies asap, and take advantage of there not being any star teams. Our aim is the POs but, with some new players and a spot of luck, there is no reason why we cannot be pressing for that top spot. But it won't happen if DK is stupid enough to believe a rerun of Saturday's fiasco against Guiseley is good enough.

The pressure is on DK, but that's what he gets paid for.

The pressure is on?! Hardly. We're two points off top spot.

Eleven teams are within three points of top spot. We have lost significant ground in the last couple of matches and have a tough run of games coming up. You can say anything with statistics but ultimately the other teams are just as competitive as we are. We need to kick on, in order to do this we should improve the team as a matter of priority before the likes of Tranmere, Orient etc get into gear.

I'm just pointing out the folly of what people are saying on here. People are carrying on like we're down in 23rd and Keates is one win away from the sack. We've lost significant ground? We're two points off the top so that's hardly significant.

Clearly DK hasn't done everything right but we're miles ahead of where we were last season. Our shape etc is at another level. That said, we're far from the finished article but I've always maintained that it would be a two year job from the summer and I've seen nothing to make me change my mind.

All the ridiculous demands for success this season do is mean that we're more likely to end up with someone like Gary Mills again as someone like Keates is not given time.

One final point... check out where we were in the league table up until the end of November the last twice we've got promoted and keep the faith.

Is one the striker from lower down the pyramid currently in full time employment?
