We need to build a squad that would at least survive League 2 as well. Currently apart from the defence we are miles away. A longer term job than one season.
good post.

Yes the bigger picture has to come into play. I think the disappointment is that after failing to sign the player he wanted he hasn't found a replacement and there has been plenty of time.

We also need our midfield general as I don't think that Wedgbury is it and it appears DK isn't totally happy with Wright in CM and we all know the views on Carra in that position.

Given the holy grail of promotion I would expect DK to completely review his approach to the squad especially given the additional revenues that league football brings.

Given the league is so wide open this season then again there is frustration that we need to keep up there in that leading pack and at the moment due to lack of recruitment for an adequate forward and one that can hold up the ball to fit into the style of play that Keates and Darlo seem to have set us up to play.

Its madness to set up to play long ball forward without then 2 forwards who fit into this style. Otherwise we may as well go 433 in the hope 1 of 3 forwards could hold the ball up.

Obviously our problems stem from 2 forwards that need the ball in the box but we have 2 CMs that sit, a LM that isn't a natural wide player and therefore reliant on Rutherford to get the ball wide and his ball in the final 3rd isn't the best.

Seems to me that the personnel don't fit the style so either change the personnel or style.

We have had this discussion before and in my view we should be asking why didn't the Agent make it known to the Club that he was who we should be dealing with?
My guess is that he was too busy NOT doing his job properly and wanted money for nothing.

However, it seems more convenient for some to blame Keates.
Well who else would you blame? He is short of management experience and all it's aspects and necessary requirements for the job. Hopefully given time he will achieve those and become the finished article, but until then we shall have to wait and see. Meanwhile............?

I know exactly what you posted, and it comes accross pretty clearly to me that you are blaming Keates.
You have no idea whether he missed out through spite (which you have now downgraded to naivety) or any other reason for that matter. Conjecture.

In answer to your assertions that Keates should have asked whether the player had an agent.......how do you know that he didn't, via the people he was dealing with?

Keates has said that he didn't speak to the player directly, and as stated before, it was the players responsibilty to divulge that he had an Agent, or at least tell his Agent what was going on, earlier in the piece.
Isn't the problem here the fact Keates didn't actually speak to the player (according to Keates version in the media) and therefore has missed the fact that there was an agent involved. All in all not the agents fault.

This may be all a little to technical for me, but if I approached a club and asked for permission to speak to one of their players and they said Yes, the next question would be who am I negotiating with and if we come to an agreement who will make the final decision on the deal? Or is all this to simplistic.
