I went to that match and somehow ended up on Spion Kop,we had a police escort across the pitch back to our own fans

When was it removed ? before or after the new Yale Stand was built - I'm thinking it was after but wouldn't like to guess which year it came down and why ? (unsafe ? - couldn't have been that old could it ?)
One of the reasons it was taken down was because it was difficult to see the pitch, remember having to sit in the front row to see the games

Hence the joke about the away fan on the Spion Kop turning around to a home fan at half-time and asking him: "Hey pal, where do you go for a pee here?"

He replied: "Just stay where you are wack, and piss into the jacket pocket of the bloke in front of you."

"Won't he notice?" asked the away fan.

"Well, you bloody didn't!" came the reply.

Or the guy parking his car in a side street close to Anfield, as he's locking up he's approached by 2 young scallies....
"Hey mister give us a fiver to look after your car"
"no need lad's I've got a Rottweiler in the back"
"does it put out fires ?"
was their quick response
