I have only checked back to the last 5 teams promoted..macc..Lincoln.FG..chelt and Grimsby. All 5 managers had experience at national league level or above before they got promoted.

No it's not, it is to point out that we can't possibly know how it will go just because of the new manager's profile. The club is learning lessons from its failures, not to go for the one shot heroes because they have let the club down in recent history, so why fans who attend most games can't take this on board is just wilful ignorance.

I agree with FOG. If be pretty pleased with his appointment but he's had plenty of criticism from Macc fans over the years (usual mid season slump. No plan B etc)

We've tried pretty much every option available... an experienced manager with a promotion on his CV (Mills), appointments from within to maintain continuity (Morrell + Davies), a returning club legend full of potential but lacking experience (Keates), a big name personally looking to use us as launch pad for his career (Saunders) and a up and coming manager with success at a lower level (Wilkin). NONE have been able to get us out of this god forsaken league so no one can say what credentials the next manager needs.

I'm in a lucky position as I'm far less clever than most on here and don't have a clue what attributes the ideal manager would have. The disadvantages is I won't have the elation if Askey signs, the advantage is I won't be crushed. In fact I suspect picking out of a hat at half time yesterday would offer as much chance for success as the cheap or expensive option.

An approach that means Wilkin or Harrison would be just fine but a Keates type would not. You can't follow a template, you must judge the men on their merits.
