Keats agreement with us was as a Manager - it was never a marriage. We all know players and manager move on. This was no different. After smelling the coffee, most of us see that Walsall are in a better position than us to attract talent. Thatís tough to take, as they used to be our rivals in the 70ís. They may have have had a few lucky breaks, whilst we were shat upon.

I'm self employed, I start a job, if someone rings me and asks me to do work for them (no matter what its worth), I'll say, " Of course I'll do it for you, but I need to complete the job I'm on first" Not just down tools and bugger off!

Totally agree, well done to Andy Davies and Michael Oakes for waiting until the season is over and finishing the job they were being paid to do. Also well done to both for going so early in the off season, so it gives the club plenty of time to bring in a replacement.

But clubs have no loyalty towards managers because if things arenít going so well they get the boot.

No of course I don't blame anyone following the money especially at this level and to be honest it's why it's very doubtful we will ever go up unless the system changes, of you check my posts I never hailed Keates only as a player for us, I was one who seen him as the cheap appointment at the time & I still think he is overrated but maybe he will improve.... No problem with Keates Joining Walsall just his selfish timing, if they had really wanted him badly they would of waited until the end of season, for all his denials about the job when the vacancy came up I think Keates told his agent to sound Walsall out.

I also think he knew we weren't good enough to go up & he would never have a big enough budget to do it.

No prob with his mates leaving for more money and a club with more ambition either, money talks in all walks of life.

When Keats left Wxm in March, Walsall were in serious risk of being relegated. If they truly rated him (I must assume that they did/do), they would have hoped that his signing would have boosted their escape chances. Walsall stayed up, so mission accomplished by them. We, however, went from bad to worse when he left. So the manoeuvre worked well for Walsall and lousy for us. This is how itís always been in football. Nothing new, or personal, in this. Now the dust has settled, can we get on with some positivity and think of how we can effect our chances of getting out of this crappy league. Or should we analyse why messers Shinton, Thomas, Hughes, Jones (Lee and Joey) left our club? How dare they!

I dont think Walsall were prepared to wait until the end of the season, thats why they paid money, (apparently) to activate his release clause, sensibly put in place by the Club. They were in danger of going down and wanted their new man asap.
I also think Keates believed we would still make the playoffs without him.
He didnt know that the players would suddenly stop performing to the same standard as they had (with one or two exceptions) as soon as he left.
