Re: Transfer rumours, speculation & associated discussion - summer 2018 (PART II)
Diarra the really tall black centre back who has been at Barrow for some time has left the sinking ship - and joined Dover. Always thought he was a rock for Barrow and a dangerous threat at set pieces.
Big Mike v Diarra - first match of the season - heavyweight clash ! |

Re: Transfer rumours, speculation & associated discussion - summer 2018 (PART II)
Playing just 1 striker up front in an isolated position has it's own problems - it almost becomes specialist and at the moment big Mike looks the only striker we have who can lead the line - who will take over if he becomes unavailable ?
Sometimes a striker comes up against a centre back or even two who perhaps are too dominant for them and mark them out of the game - playing 3 strikers would allow for them to interchange - we used to see this with the likes of Wright, Speight, Pogba and other teams - it confuses the hell out of the opposition and allows strikers with different attributes to expose weaknesses in defenders. Playing one lone man becomes one dimensional - the players behind him need to do a lot of leg work to fully support him. Perhaps next week 'if' we make the 2 - 3 further signings as indicated by Ricketts - things will look a bit better. I would take Cheek in a heartbeat if we can land him. |

Does't Cheek still have a year left of a 2 yr contract at D+R? He's also played all his soccer down south.
Agree with RL that he'd be a great addition if we can land him, and D+R are short of cash. |

It is not just finding them but being patient with them when we do find them. Durrell is a great example, never really given a sustained chance here and now a football league player

Am I missing something, how many goals did Archer score last season? No doubt he has potential, but I'm not convinced he's some finished article we've missed out on.
