Pearson could well be signing a 2 year contract extension in the next week.

That would be great news, same for Manny.

I spoke to an old guy last weekend who said he had been talking to Pearson in a restaurant recently.

Pearson told him he thought Ricketts was one of the best managers he has ever played for and the backroom staff is comparable to what you see in many L1 or L2 clubs.
We are supposedly the only team in this league who employ a physiologist to work with the players and this is already beginning to have a positive impact.

He was also complimentary on the different formations and set plays he has got them working on and that training was totally different to last season - very tough but very enjoyable.

Training seems chalk and cheese to last season. Davies used to run the sessions while Keates would often be standing on the side lines with his arms folded.

This season, Ricketts seems a lot more involved, taking time to speak to each player individually at length and taking the defensive sessions himself.

That's good to hear, hopefully it reflects on the pitch.

I think it is more likely that the backroom staff are taking up a big chunk, we seem very well stocked. SDR obviously thinks it is money well spent to get the best out of the players he does have here, we will see

Was talking to Leo Smith and he said Sam was a lot more meticulous than Keates and you could tell that he'd played at a higher level.

No team ever has been built around a centre half!

Whilst, like most, I had been hoping for 2 or 3 more signings, I do feel lifted by the positive comments about Sam's approach to training and tactics.
There remains a strong probability that last season's players underachieved on both a personal and a team basis - Deverdicks being a prime example.
A team that is better prepared physically and mentally coupled with tactics that reflect individual and team strengths should pay dividends.
The tough start we face will soon reveal if there are any noticeable improvements. One thing for certain is that we won't have to endure the negative approach we suffered under Keates.
Bring it on Sam!
