Default Referee Rating

I am completely fed up with the poorer than poor standard of refereeing this standard. The guy today was an absolute joke. A caution for Mike before half time - never. Then their player did the same just after the break and nothing. I just don’t get it.

IMO the standard of referees is spoiling the game

Must say we've had some shockers this season but equally I think we've had some very good ones, more than usual. Certainly seem to get Jekyll or Hyde at the moment.

I suggest the standard is on par with the standard of players.

Does the same referree get the replay? Hope not . He certainly got an earfull from the Wrexham bench at the end of the match.

+It's unfortunately the standard at the level. You either get referees who have peaked at this level for years and years (usually for good reason) or up-and-coming refs lacking experience. The former are usually the curmudgeons who don't let the game flow and blow their whistle every time players get withing a yard of each other, and the latter are usually the ones who miss key decisions or get them wrong.

It's frustrating, but we're hardly the only team who has an issue with poor refereeing.

If you’ve ever tried to ref a game, please comment. I have at u14 and 16 kids level (as an 18/19 year old) and it was hard. Intimidated by everyone; players, coaches, managers and supporters. As such, I’ll seldom criticise a ref. Without them, the game goes to shit.

Think this ref was more of the latter, my biggest gripe was the amount of times he penalised Fondop for battling with their centre half, he's a bloody strong lad and he gets punished for it, the booking was a tad harsh but can see why it was given.
Also I can't for the life of me understand why the linesman waited for Fondop to lob their keeper before flagging.

Yes I have tried being a ref and I was useless, just as I was at playing football.

I therefore understand ooor referring but just don’t get inconsistent or one sided.

Just seems worse to me today but have calmed down now.

Interesting to see how far offside Fondop was.

They were a very clever niggley team I thought.
