Default Re: Club statement - "not appropriate" for Ricketts to be at game tonight

It’s obvious what’s happened. Ricketts has applied for the job, possibly with the encouragement of Danny Coyne. He and the Board have both said there was no approach. Sam told them about the release clause, which means they know they don’t need our permission, and obviously think the fee is worthwhile. They probably agreed to wait until Monday to make the announcement and let the club know, then someone at Shrewsbury let the cat out of the bag. The Board ring Ricketts to find out what’s going on. He either refuses to speak to them or refuses to deny it, so they ‘know’ he’s going, but don’t know officially. Hence their present statement.

However you look at it Ricketts is the one at fault in all this. He’s also taking a huge gamble. From our perspective, it’s much better he goes now than it March or April. It gives us time to get a new manager in before the transfer window closes, and gives us time to make up for any momentum we might loose.

It will be a feisty game tonight, that’s for sure. We need to channel the disappointment with Ricketts into encouragement for the players. It ain’t their fault he’s gone, and some of them will be as disappointed as we are.

Even with the release clause they need permission.

In my opinion he hasn’t even earned his Spurs in management. I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up on the scrap heap in the near future. He should have done well here first.

I think he's more suited to a Tory club like Shrewsbury.

So he goes to Shrewsbury and manages to get them into top 10 towards season end. A magnificent achievement! This is noticed by one of his previous clubs with whom he has an "emotional connection" and they come to poach him with an offer he (more likely his greedy agent) can't refuse. Now that would be interesting.

So clearly he was lying to the fans at The Turf not so long ago. Fair play Sam, you now join the other long list of parasites we've had to endure at the club.
