Both GB and Newell will have had pay-offs.

Players will be happy though no doubt if the rumours they couldn't stand him are to be believed.

You know they had pay-offs ? can you enlighten the rest of us ?
My understanding was that GB resigned - if I resigned for sure I would rightly get nothing. MN is different and in my eyes is our 'mistake'

You think Newells just walked?? Mutual consent always involves a pay off.

The big error was appointing someone who didn't want to do the job, them allowing him to saddle us with more baggage on long contracts.

The above is a madness scene of events that did not need to happen. I said at the time that the Barrow 2.5 year assistant contract was spin from the board to silence us over the Ricketts to Shrews chapter and keep us all clapping in the same direction. "Loyalty" was the buzz word at the time and the board made a poor decision in trying to appease fans and avoid criticism.
Why of why did not they not just Barrow on his deal than ran to the season end, offer him acting up pay to take temporary charge of the team when SR left giving themselves plenty of time to go and get the right candidate.

Like you say, madness that did not need to happen. Barrow until the end of the season would have been just been fine after Lawrence proved to be a non starter. If that wasn't agreeable there were other options

What I can't get my head around is that the folk who made these decisions are intelligent, successful people who wouldn't dream of running their own business like this, yet they have run ours like complete buffoons.

It's good news - it was a very poor appointment - can't escape from the fact that the club appears to be in a tailspin at the moment.

There have been a series of very poor decisions which suggest change at the very top is inevitable. I think Spencer's position is untenable - which is a pity because he's been a very good servant to the club

The length of the contract isn't important, providing there is clauses. I'd be surprised if we've had to pay him more than a months salary.
