Really ? a re arranged mid week evening match v Stockport, or any other club will never give us the same level of attendance as a Saturday afternoon fixture - especially in relation to away supporters.
The spin offs and hospitality are also likely to be much reduced compared with playing a league game on a Saturday.

Think it was stated earlier in the thread that the competition organisers do in fact pay for travelling / overnight accommodation - which will be a massive bonus.

It comes down to one thing - do we really want to ever get out of this league or dilute our resources and suffer a long term distraction with this competition.
Putting a weak team out makes a mockery of the competition - but makes sense to our league ambitions.

This competition is a mockery all on its own. Dixie's comments sum it up.

How about we raise funds by raffling off 11 prizes to fans to represent Wrexham in this.... “competition” we fulfil our obligations to play with no fatigue, potential injuries or suspension to our players job done.

If the last few seasons are any sort of yardstick, by the time this comes around we'll probably have accumulated enough 'never gonna get played frozen out loanees' to field a team for this..

Sponsorship possibly but many people work Saturdays and can’t attend and Stockport is so local the kick off time is unlikely to put people off as they can travel after work.

Maybe a poor example on my part. picking Stockport.
The principal remains the same. We rarely get the best crowds on a Tuesday night as opposed to a Saturday.
