Apparently a butchers nr Cowdenbeath has the best Haggis and you get a free packet of Tunnock tea cakes with everyone.

I wouldn’t expect first team regulars like Pearson or JJ to be anywhere near these games. I’d be a lot happier for example if Pearson did pick up a knock that Tharme has had game time and is ready to step up and do a job.
Same with Dibble, Sargent, Thorne, Rutherford, Grant, Fondop etc etc
No spin as I didn’t even mention league campaign. That’s your own spin there.
Don't be silly. You know full well pre season friendlies are purely for fitness and are managed accordingly. Poor, borderline desperate comparison. This just further increase the risk of injuries simply because its more games to play, its that simple.

In the post you replied to I've highlighted the positions in the team where we're vulnerable and don't have much if any cover.

Wrong. BH said he's going to have a smaller squad this season. Whether that turns out to actually be the case is anyone guess given our scattergun approach to countless loan signings.

Then we put reserve and youth team players out there. Hopefully one or two of them will do well and we have potential replacement for first team cover rather than dipping into the loan market. We don't haver to play the first team for this if we don't want to.

If we play a few fringe players (we won't have that many) and the rest is youth then I'd have no issue with that. I doubt we will though.

This club doesn't use its own youth to cover injuries, see last 3 seasons and the influx of other teams youngsters on loan. That's wishful thinking.

I wonder if there will be direction from those above the manager. For example, if he’s directed to win the competition then he’ll play his strongest team. If he’s told it’s not that important then he shouldn’t be held to task if our backup players aren’t good enough.

Ultimately you have to trust the manager because it’s his neck on the chopping block if this competition affects our league campaign.

Well, we kicked off a year ago owning 15 players and had the scattergun loans to support. Mills and Keates gamely tried to run with 18 and ended up plugging the gaps on the hoof. Now the club owns 20 already, has another loan in and it seems to be understood there will be a full back and midfielder to come in on top. That looks rather more robust to me.

Absolutely, couldn't agree more with your last sentence.
I'd hope there's no direction at all and its left completely up to him. He shouldn't need to be told what the priority is and I doubt he's focused on anything other than promotion going by what he's said so far. He didn't come across to keen in the interview I read.
