So, unless you’re promoted, it’s not progress. Makes sense I suppose.

So sorry it's an opinions board where their will be different opinions and how many cannot grasp that, it's as said opinions and non of us can say we are right without hindsight.

What I call progressing is Leyton Orient who finished well behind the previous season, Salford successive promotions ( not all down to money Forest Green spent ages trying) progression is also Lincoln Tranmere or Newport Tranmere finished lowdown first season down here.

We are entering our 12th year so where is our real progress?

Sorry Pagl this is in reply to Connoly

The bit about opinions, I haven't got a clue what your point is there sorry.

So the only way we can progress in your view is promotion, so essentially over the next 5 years we should be winning the premier league otherwise we're not progressing?

Where people might be getting muddled is that under Mills we fell way below where we should be (with our budget etc). Getting back to where we are now isn't progress for me, its clearing up the mess he made and getting us back to a level we should be at.
Keates took us someway back to where we should be (challenging for PO minimum) but jumped ship as soon as he could. Ricketts took that forward and maintained the level we should expect, even took it on a tad but again he jumped ship at the first opportunity. We finished in the PO but again fell at the final stretch.
So for me we are back to where we should be and real progress would be going that one step further, a season where some key decisions take us to promotion instead of harming our promotion chances. I genuinely think we could have won the league last season with more luck and some better decision making throughout the club from the board down to managers. We did have some shit luck with key players getting injured too.

Agree with pretty much all of this, I don't think we've got any divine right to be promoted but should be at minimum aiming for the play offs each year.

I also don't believe the board are doing as badly as is portrayed on here, I agree they've made mistakes but on the whole think they're doing a fairly good job of it.

I heard he was going to sign but read Red Passion and broke down into an inconsolable pit of misery and despair that he couldn't recover from and has now quit football to become a monk.

Sorry the point about opinions was not aimed at you but those on whatever side of the fence terms that get used nodding dogs/clappers or frothers

Neither side can say their opinion is right without hindsight.

As to only calling promotion progress well imho after 11 yrs down here anything less is not progress.

Depends on what you're judging them on I suppose. Problem is many fans have no interest in anything other than the football/getting promotion so they are solely judged on that alone and anything else is seen as failure.

Off the field (as its exams time) I'd give them a B/B+.
On the field stuff its a D for me at present.

But isn't that setting expectations too high? How many times have we been promoted in our history? How many clubs are continually successful?

I've certainly never seen continued success since I've been supporting Wrexham.
