PD walks away and counts to 10 before, ‘we’ve been here before etc etc’.
Ha! I wondered who would be first to jump up and down. Need I have guessed! Reversing? No, simply flagging down erratic drivers who should know better!

But, as I also said yesterday, we need better than Morrell or Keates. Big Den probably would have been better, hence why I thought him worth an interview at the time: he had a good coaching pedigree, had contacts, was well-regarded by folk in the know, and generally well respected.

But he had no managerial experience, and would have needed an experienced No2 to help him out. He and Barrow might have worked, but he turned us down -- for whatever reason -- when the job was his for the asking. Therefore, his ship has sailed -- but nothing past this Board! ie Spencer having another brain-fart and appointing the hapless Hughes and the failed Keates.

I seem to recall many other 'experts' calling for NL standards to have been appointed. They, too, probably would have been the wrong 'uns for us. But, as Spencer has proved, it's all very much a shot in the dark on the Wrexham merry-go-round. We do need stability; but we also need the right man at the helm. Sadly, I don't think Keates is that man; his dire, unsuccessful football is not what's needed IMHO!

Pleased for him, and hope he has some success.

Should be the calibre of manager we want to go after. Young, modern techniques, hungry and done well so far.

As has been said before though will we chain bombproof Carl onto anyone coming here or give them there own choice of backroom staff?

Agree. He would be a good option, but: location; backroom staff; and paying off Keates from a reducing kitty.

Keates won't be on much and you'd imagine he's missed any performance related clauses in his contract

Even so the cost of sacking him is almost certainly less than the cost of keeping him on in terms of reduced season ticket sales

I think people look back and see what Morrell achieved here as manager and realise he's probably the best manager we've had here since Denis Smith was sacked. Its got nothing to do with Keates really. The fact he stinks the place out as a manager is a bitter pill for some of his few fans to swallow.
