Spann wasn't great but then we were saying this a few years back for players like Hunt and Cizz. Fast forward to today and those sort of players would walk into this squad. Year on year we are getting worse and worse.

All three were/are no where near good enough though.

Are they good enough? No, but we've had dozens and dozens of players who weren't good enough in the time we've been in this league. I reckon, given a bit of time to think, I could name (at least) 25 players we've had worse than them both in who have played for us in the last 12 years.

Justified by what measure?
What I do know is that Rutherford's goal and assists stats read like a defender's or a goal keeper's they are that bad.

If you play a wide attacker who doesn't create or score anywhere near enough or at all most of the time, then that's not justified when that is their primary job.

I never cease to be amazed how some fans (not aimed at anyone in particular) indulge utter shite like those two for so long.

Rutherford gets in the team. FACT

Rutherford isn't the best player we've ever had... FACT

...but he still gets in the team. FACT

So how bad must the players be who don't get in the team ahead of him?
