Man who got us 98 points and in any other year in history going up as Champions?

Then took us to a playoff final and won a trophy? While having constantly reduced budgets. And took money out of his budget to help our youth team?

Quite good for someone who isn’t a manager.

It's an old argument, but if he had to build that squad himself it wouldn't have happened.

Quite a good motivator though.

Hindsight has taught us that, despite the WST’s propaganda at the time, Morrell likely had to deal with massive cuts to the budget. This could explain why he was so hopeless in the transfer market. His hands may have been tied, despite the talk of war chests. His record and the way he acquitted himself point to him being one of our better managers since relegation to the National League. I would certainly welcome him back to the club in some capacity.

Not a good time to be made redundant, so hope he finds something soon. He would be a good shout to run our reserves/youth, but not the first team.
Thats a fair shout if we ever had the cash.

He may not have assembled the squad but he certainly managed it.
And got more out of it than Saunders ever did.

Give the guy some credit.

One of those arguments that is impossible to refute. Personally I agree with FOG - his achievements that season were as near perfect as you can be at this level.

Rubbish , The 98pt team Saunders put together was easy to manage , by the time Morrell got them , Saunders never worked with them long enough to justify your remarks .

I was in a bar on Galway around 2 years ago and randomly ended up drinking with Andy Morrell’s brother in law. He seemed shocked when I told him how revered Andy was in Wrexham. Rather than get rid of him we needed to build the right structure around him, he was clearly a very good man manager but needed some help with some additional contacts and maybe in negotiating With agents to bring Players into the club
Of all our managers of the non league era Andy is the one I have the most time for

Andy Morrell will always be welcome at Wrexham.

You can tell from his commentaries since leaving that he's a Wrexham fan

If, in the future we have the good fortune to build up our club again and revive our CofE I'd love to see Andy involved somewhere.

Bagger Vance will have worked closely with him so will know if he has the skills
