Part II of the interview was a decent listen. Very honest from Morrell, particularly around the mistakes made at the play off final.

Cheers for that. It was interesting to hear him talk about the way his departure as manager came about.

Confirms a few things which I think we all suspected, but have never been verbalised.

Guessing, I probably saw Lugger play over 150 games for us. Fantastic player, no negatives about anything he did for us.

If anyone prefers Connolly to Trundle ( me included) or vice versa then fair enough. But to say one was on a different planet to the other is a bit daft. Both hugely talented footballers, best left at that.

Part 2 was a good listen. Confirmed the budget was slashed under the WST and his hands were tied when he tried to make signings. AM thinks Keates wants to play good football but can’t because he’s working with a WST squad and no money to sign a quality centre midfielder.

I think we all knew this but it's good to have it confirmed.
I was never taken in by WST spin in the last 6 or 7 years

What a thoroughly decent guy Morrell is.

If you are looking at the best of team from the early 90s to now then they've picked the two who, for me, are without question- King Karl and Benno.

The third would then be between Trundle and Morrell, with AM getting my vote because he played a lot more games for us. Also Lee has that association with the Jacks.

My biggest issue with how the WST acted was that outwardly they talked our budget and chances of promotion up. Several managers were thrown under the bus with fans under the impression they were wasting a decent budget.

Found an article from after the trophy final where Bircham infamously said Morrell would have a decent “warchest” the next season.

From what Morrell said that was the season where he put a case forward to shift old heads on and bring in decent players, but was told there was no money available.

Not at all.

One played over 350 games for us, the other 97
One scored 88 goals, the other 27
One played for us for 9 seasons, the other for 2
One did most of his games excelling in what is league 1, the other had one great season in league 2.
One left us on a free transfer to go up a division, the other joined our rivals, a division lower.

In terms of being in the greatest Wrexham XI of my lifetime? The comparison isn't even close.
