I can remember seeing original plans for the kop in a programme from the 76-77 season the away section was then going to be part of the kop could be wrong but think the away fans would have had the corner section next to the Turf.I will see if I can find it in the programme. |

That's where I used to stand when the kop was open. Still haven't found a part of the ground I prefer to sit. |

Re: Potential New Kop by Mar-24
I'm not buying a season ticket until he Kop is back. That's our true home and to even consider putting away fans in there is crazy. Let them walk to where they are now. The Kop has always been the best place to watch the game from. So many memories come back when I just think of the times i had on there growing up. Some happy memories like West Ham in the snow, and some terrible, the one that lives in my memory and will do for ever is how I sat on the step at the top of the Kop at half time against Boston, thinking the world was just going to eat me up. Then we came out second half and did what we did. All them emotions in one game, in the only place I wanted to be every Saturday afternoon.
I cannot wait to hear that roar coming from the Kop again.

Re: Potential New Kop by Mar-24
I just hope the new Kop stand does that end of the stadium and the history of the Kop justice.
Agree with another poster that it needs to be of a steep design to make full use of the atmosphere created at that end as the existing terrace, while being huge is very shallow meaning the back is too far from the pitch. |

Re: Potential New Kop by Mar-24
i spent a good percentage of my teenage years on the kop, well on match days anyway,
i have seen a video on youtube of the 78 team doing a lap of honour in front of loads of waving flags under the Busfields stand, i was waving one of those flags, so many memories, but it will be great to see a huge new stand there with a steeper incline and a roof designed to throw the noise out to the pitch not back at you as the current roof did |

Being serious, the money allocated will probably have a time limit so we will need to get our skates on to agree: who pays for what; a design that meets everyone's needs; and planning permission. Personally, I think the floodlights should go; it be a mixed stand with permanent seating at the top and safe-standing at the bottom; and have space for various sized function rooms. A tight timescale would be to start demolishing the present Kop early next year, then build the new one in time for the latter part of the 2022/23 season. A more reasonable opening would be for the 2023/24 season. It depends on whether we can start looking like champions and if the demand for tickets increases. If/when we get back into the EFL there will certainly be more away fans, who should then be housed in the Tech End.
