Default Re: Eastleigh Verdict

just back i will post some ratings later. A solid and comfortable win, Eastleigh got a couple if injuries and looked much weaker than last season. it was strange as we didn't play that well but were comfortable mainly at the back and clinical with the chances we created.

Hayden was brilliant, Hyde very good. Lennon showed up well after a shaky start.

James Jones started quite brightly then the game seemed to pass him by but he will only get better

Hayden started the move for Hyde's first, with a great ball from the back. They've obviously been told to keep it on the floor, and it went from Lainton to Hayden, to Mullin to Hyde then in.

Not spectacular, but I wasn't expecting them to be considering they've not played with each other yet. I can see in a few weeks time when it all comes together that this will be a solid team at the back, with flair going forward.

Mullin was taken off and seemed surprised, whether he's being rested for Monday or not remains to be seen. He played ok. Dior came on instead of him and actually looked really dangerous and could have had a couple, and set up a couple.

Can't ask for more than a win, but this side's got real potential.

On way back...Very much how I saw it too

Thought we invited pressure and lost the middle for periods...Still think we need a strong battler in the middle to break.it up and distribute ...Gaps in middle at points in game but we move ball so much better now...
Defence were messing with ball around a lot in first half and too nervy ...Grew as game went on and held line very well...Strikers will score and a couple of outstanding saves kept score down...
Eastleigh good side and will be top half again..

Angus good when he came on for Mullin...very direct and quick ..
Davies had a good 2nd half

Good win at a difficult place...
Oddly more in control 2nd half despite 2 up already
700 fans ....Great support
Up tbe Town ! Aye

Eastleigh fan view.

Thought we did OK, midfield definitely better than pre-season. but our forward deficiency was shown up again today.

First goal was a superb pass by a League 2 striker, and second goal was a header from a corner, a poor one to concede, but after Barnett had gone off injured.
Joe made some great saves otherwise it would have been more. Looked like a clear penalty for a trip on House near the end but the visitors were clear winners.

If they keep playing like that they will be top 3. It wasn't just the quality of some of their players, it was the workrate they showed. We don't often get outworked.
But some optimistic signs for the future, I'm expecting mid-table with the possibility of something a bit better if we can get someone who can score the goals.

Sounds great

Much better listening in this season, we sound dangerous every time we attack, whereas previous seasons we hardly generated any chances. Agree about Barry Horne, too monotone.

I was going to post that view too. Sounds brilliant, we know we are going to improve as a team but to hear fans of other teams mention our quality and workrate is very encouraging.

Love the bit about “work rate”…. something we have been lacking.

Good to hear cheers for the update.
