How come the rules aren’t as simple as we resume 53 mins in and the scoreline carries over too? I’m pretty sure that’s happened before

National league replays the whole match. Darlington vs Boston was abandoned after 87 minutes and they had to play from the start.

In tournaments like the euros they would restart from where they left off as they need to get the matches played.

How come you’re allowed to play the replay with new players then? Doesn’t seem right that you can play players that weren’t registered for the original game

Maybe Mullin should play too because he wasn’t suspended for the first game.

Or Tozer and Young can’t play because they were injured in the game.

I mean, it’s a different, but fair point. Just doesn’t seem within the rules that you can play the original game, be 2-0 down, then circumstances allow you to get away with one. Then for the replayed game, you can field a completely different team and be stronger. Feels like a loophole of sorts
