Re: Visiting Wrexham and Racecourse for the first time
After seeing the weather forecast we stayed in Stratford a little longer (where it began to rain around 11:30am). We got into Wrexham about 3:30pm and went straight to the ground (it wasn't raining). Pity, I would have liked to have seen some more of your town. Really enjoyed the hour or so drive when we turned away from the Midlands and drove on a sparsely populated road past Hereford, Shrewsbury and Oswestry to your town. Some amazing looking 'ravines' outside Wrexham. Anyway, my son enjoyed talking to some of the cadets collecting for Christmas and he bought a toy dog in the club shop which he named 'Wrexham' (there happened to be a father and son there with Swansea City clothing on....... Dear god!).
Anyway, had our photos outside the main stand, went into the ground, waited a good 20 - 30 mins for the food stall to open, joked about the speed of service, watched the sky sports updates, had my first pint of Wrexham lager (it didn't taste like p*ss - quite enjoyed it), son continued 'badgering' some cadets....
We took our seats in the main stand on the halfway line and enjoyed the first half (and goal). Admittedly, my son's interest started to wane in the second half. Anyway, we enjoyed the experience. I would like to do again one day and see more of the town.
