O’Connor 7 - did what he had to & made a few important interceptions

Mendy 8 - active down the flanks without neglecting his defensive

Cannon 9 - thought he was absolutely superb, especially when we went down to 10 men. He put his body on the line on 3 occasions blocking shots from the edge of the area and prompting the attack when he got the chance. Well played AC MOTM

Evans 4 - when you are on a red card, don’t give the ref a decision to make.

Lee 8 - to be fair to him, he was everywhere and obviously ran out of a bit of steam towards the end. So far he has been our POTS.

McClean 8.5 - great contribution all over the pitch. When the going gets tough, the ……. and given he was up against a tricky player in Fevrier, he never gave up. Got a great assist but has to realise he is a marked man and stop getting booked.

Mullin 7 - seems to be a bit low on confidence. Would normally score in a one on one situation. Never stopped running even when playing in midfield.
Dalby 6 - unfortunately sacrificed to help the team. Had a won a few important header beforehand.

Subs
Jones 7 - was exactly what we needed at half time. Helped defending a lead to a team on the front foot.
Boyle - won a few important headers when he came on.
Palmer - just what we wanted
Davies - too late to make an impact.

Parky - a tactical masterclass
Not sure where the 8 for Mendy comes from. TBF he is taking on a tough challenge playing out of position, but yesterday it showed. I like Mendy a lot, but am glad Forde is back and hope Barnett isn’t far behind; Mendy deserves to compete with McClean on his best side (he’d lose for me, but won’t let anyone down).

Mendy 6 - glad Forde is back cos Jacob struggled today
Evans 3 - strange but it happens
Cannon 8.5 - more tenacious today and some decent offensive play
Lee 7.5 - worked hard until tiring, got his goal
McClean 8.5 - borrowed JJ’s engine and worked really hard against their better players

Dalby 7 - thought he was doing okay until the sending off
Mullin 7.5 - put in a real shift

Jones 7.5 - helped regain control second half
Palmer and Davies too little time to rate

Parky 9 - made the right calls when needed
Spot on. McClean knackered their winger. First half wanted to run at defenders second half he just crossed it. McClean is a beast

Agreed.

Okonkwo, O’Connor , McClean, Evans, Lee, Mullin start every game when fit.

The sprint he made from the edge of their box to inside ours in the last few minutes after not stopping all game shows how much of a beast he is. Caught up with winger and jockeyed him down the line. The blokes fitness levels for his age are unbelievable.

I listened to the Fozcast interview with Pullis and he mentions in it that McClean had always been a monster on the mountain runs in Austria pre-season.

Some really strange ratings on here as always ......

Sam Dalby played well for 25 minutes and was then completely anonymous for the last 20+ minutes of the 1st half ..... in no way was he a 7 for 25 minutes of football ..... certainly not if James Jones is only 7.5 for coming on at half time and basically making us look like we still had 11 men on the pitch .

Some high ratings for Mendy too, when he failed to beat his man a single time all game - if McFadzean of Macalinden had put in the performance Jacob did they'd be getting slaughtered with 3 or 4 as their ratings - not his fault as he's just not suited to playing on the right hand side , he's a great player , but his performances at RWB are pretty poor

The Back 3 were very good for most of the game

Howard turned in a pretty decent performance .

Cannon was outstanding .

McClean had one of his best performances for us

Mullin worked SO hard ....

Ollie came on and showed what we lack when we start with Dalby

.. Dalby made a coupe of good runs and had a couple of good flicks , but nothing more - his work rate is still not where it needs to be .

it was a decent performance in difficult circumstances ....

Parky got his subs spot on , particularly Jones for Dalby ... for most of the second half, you wouldn't have been able to tell we were down to 10 men

Would have been a big call by Coach Parky to hook Dalby immediately after Evan's madness. That would have shot the lad's confidence to pieces. Clever move to wait until he's in the dressing room to make the change. Jones of course is the perfect player for when we're down to 10.

Teams are doubling up on Mendy to negate his threat. I'd be surprised if we see another goal similar to Morecambe at home where he cut inside as teams are wise to the fact he's a left footer.

Can't argue with Old School's ratings.

A comment from Rob The Red stating Daulby was poor after the sending off was a little bizarre, Mullin dropped into midfield and no one was within 20 yards of him at any time, trying to close down3/4 defenders was probably his remit until half time. The intelligent runs , close control and prowess in the air is far superior to Palmer whose first 3 touches were abysmal and giving away possession.Palmer is not as some people think good in the air unless he manages to find space for a free header, smaller defenders manhandle him out of the way.
He has had a decent couple of years here, but his fitness levels are not what they were, he cannot start 2 games sat/tues as Harrogate showed so he should be used sparingly.
Apart from the obvious 4/5 Daulby is someone with the attributes to play higher up the pyramid, I also think Max and Jordan are players who could thrive at a higher level, it’s a pity there are players performing in front of them at the moment.

Considering the ref was against us, down to 10 men for majority of the game, it was a monumental effort

All players 9, except Mullin who ran his socks off alone up front, Cannon who was aggressive and impressive, and McLean whose fitness level is off the scale get 10.

That could prove massive 3 points.

No blame on Evans from me, these things happen in heat of battle.

Season developing perfectly.
