Re: Eye catching Ollie Palmer stat

One big reason is the amount of work he puts in and the physicality he puts into his battles with defenders . Another is that when he's on the pitch doing all this , it allows Mullin to work more centrally as Ollie does a lot of the chasing / donkey work . Contrast that with the main alternative we've had - Dalby .... Sam is a much more static player , he's far less mobile doesn't battle physically for the ball and is only really effective if the ball is played into his feet due to the lack of work / physically, we then end up with Mullin having to do a lot more of the donkey work and as a result not spending so much time in central channels or other danger areas .... Ollie makes a huge difference Vs Dalby not just in terms of their own individual contributions , but also in how Ollie allows Mullin to focus on what he should be doing rather than doing all the work that Ollie picks up ... We're just much easier to defend against when it's Dalby in instead of Ollie Ollie is a nightmare to play against if you're a defender .... so it's about so much more than just his individual goal contribution he disrupts defences so much more effectively

For some unknown reason though PP dropped Palmer and insisted on Dalby starting so many games. Whenever Dalby has started or come on it really has been the kiss of death for us all season and the stats confirm what many like myself have said and received criticism for. The Dalby/Mullin pairing is the absolute worst idea I've seen. It's the worst pairing in the league but PP couldn't get enough of it. Mullin spending an entire match being stalked by defenders with no space to play in simply turned him into a one man press machine with no time on the ball whatsoever while Dalby stood around like a spare part. We need to divide the attention of the oppositions defence for Mullin to be able to work his magic, otherwise he can't do anything. We've lost so many points with the idiotic Dalby/Mullin shambles this season. |
