Just to add, it's not only players that have had testimonial matches for us. Cliff Sear, who worked wonders for our youth setup in the late 80's and early 90's, was given one for his services to the club.

I remember at one point talk among fans about giving the groundsman a testimonial. I think he was called Johnny something.

Good to know...seems like they should still do it or find some other way to honor longtime players even if it isn't a money issue anymore, especially since you can't retire jerseys the way American sports do. Maybe a ring of honor, do football teams do that at all?
