Care to elaborate? I'd argue the right back, left wing and one of the striker positions are all far from certain.

I don't think a best starting 11 is set in stone either.
Forward slots are up for grabs.
Hurst played right back today, a position I don't like to see Carrington in - Hurst looks a solid powerhouse strength wise and a big lad but not so sure of his mobility so who do we play at right back ? it's been a problem position for some time.
The surprises have, for me been Leo Smith who looks better than last season and Akil Wright.
In response to an earlier post on this thread I can't share any criticism of Dibble - he was only beaten by a penalty and was hardly tested all match. Kicking seemed fine to me and was putting goal kicks on Tourre's head - my lad actually commented that he talks to his defenders far more than Dunn.
Both our keepers look solid enough to me but lets see how they cope when we come up against some prolonged pressure against better opposition.

I think you maybe referring to my post Redlight, there was clearly a choice in the second half(and more) where he shouted to clear the ball to Pearson when it was simple ball for himto collect. A few of his clearances were unspectacular giving the opposition a good run at goal.

Dunn will be first choice so wouldn't worry too much about Dibble's kicking which I thought was ok bar a couple in the 2nd half.

We do need another quality striker preferably a target man and a right back if we want to be truly confident of going for the title.

Something that might also help settle pre season nerves is that Darlington will also see the shortcomings in the team and be able to correct these issues.
That was something that didn't happen last year.
Nice steady build up to the season so far.

As far as formations are concerned I reckon that mackreth is the key to a fluid change in formations through the game.
We will line up 4-4-2 with him and hopefully hurst on the right hand side.
That way we can easily go 4-3-3 and push mackreth on, or in desperate times even 3-4-3/ 3-5-2 and push hurst into midfield.
All fairly fluid without the need for substitutions,

Dean Keates post match interview at Stafford - spot on in all aspects I thought.

Looks like Akil Wright will be signed up pretty quickly - as others have also hinted - I get the impression the jury seems to be out on Gime Tourre.
In fairness he hasn't looked terribly out of place in comparison to the other strikers and with his height and pace could provide something the others can't - perhaps needs a bit more composure - some of his shooting is a tad too high.

I'd suggest that it's Dunn; Hurst, Manny, Pearson, Jennings; Mackreth, Wright, Wedgbury, Kelly; Holroyd, Boden. This is dependent on Wright signing, and I suppose right back is contentious with Leo Smith also making a strong case in midfield. I'm pretty certain of that XI for the opening day though.
