Pearson and Manny are as good if not better than any other central defensive partnership at this level

None of us are happy with current form but the nagativuty on this forum is diabolical for this time of the season.

I wasn't expecting Franco Baresi.
Agree. You can't expect defenders at this level to pass the ball around. There can't be many conference centre halves than the two we have, and we just need the same quality elsewhere in the side.

Pearson is very comfortable with the ball at his feet, Smith not so much but he's a good defender nonetheless as he anticipates well and is great in the air. I've seen each supply the ball to midfield but as always at this level the temptation is to kick it long so you don't feel under pressure...but back to Pearson, he's probably our best signing so far, the goals conceded support this.

The celebrations were ridiculous, Rutherford the hardest working player who was once again one of the best players for us yesterday the only player to grab the ball wanting a second goal yet idiots on here continue to pick him out for criticism.

There's an unrealistic expectation as to how we should be playing.

Playing positive football going for the win vs teams at the foot of the table unrealistic now?

Looks that way, it's getting to the point where most are accepting that promotion is 'unrealistic'. 2 points off top but crowd is dropping, why do you think that is?

Pearson is also the player who goes to ground at every set piece, which is embarrassing for a captain.

That said, some big dramatic run back to the halfway line to go again is just comic drama really. The more likely outcome was always going to be Guiseley breaking away as we pressed for a second so it was the moment to take a leaf out of Cox book; kill the game and take the draw rather than risk all and throw it away. I like a bit of football drama as much as the next person but if you're in transition and struggling to grind stuff out then you have to take what you have and not imagine that having created little in 90 you're going to suddenly do it again inside 90 seconds.

One of our biggest single problem also starts at centre back. Both win the ball repeatedly but lack the ability to get the ball down and play it to a midfielder. Until we have one central defender who can do that there is no midfielder or striker in the country who will up our scoring rate. It's not that our midfield are set up to be wholly defensive. It's more that if they're not given the ball to start attacks all they will ever be doing is defending as the ball just comes back at them again and again.

Mike just one point to make on your post regarding the accept a point take a leaf out of Cox, I seem to remember a certain Champions league final between Man U & Bayern Munich different class and level I know but United equalised very late on and scored the winner soon after, sometimes in football you have to gamble we were celebrating the equaliser at home against the side next bottom like we had won the Champions league, relief at getting the equaliser and a great goal yes bit OTT.

But yes Rutherford was switched on and got the ball and he deserves credit for that.

Sorry if that reads a bit pompous 😈
