Default Re: Local talent spotter identifies key WAFC targets

I'd rather some of the players mentioned proved themselves regularly in the Welsh Premier first.

No disrespect meant to any of the lads mentioned, but take for example Barry Torrence. He's 27 and played no higher than Cymru Alliance. This season for Queens Park he scored 2 goals in 11 league games before signing for Brickfield.
Another example being Jordan Davies. He scored a load for Prestatyn last season, and moved to Nantwich this season. However this season he scored 2 in 12 league appearances before signing for Sandbach United. They're hardly going to tear it up in the Conference.
Gareth Edwards at Caernarfon is 34 and never played higher than Cymru Alliance, I doubt he'd be an improvement on Pearson or Smith.

It’s an interesting article with a different perspective. I can’t understand the snobbish attitude that some have towards it. He also has a point about a few players:

Aeron Edwards - able and has more potential than some of the midfield players we have seen in recent years - more potential than “he’s one of our own “ for instance .

Harry Lovett - in his age group he was a really good midfield player with an attitude. Currently with Shrewsbury and being loaned out to the likes of Sutton cold field.

Utter nonsense the whole thing and smacks of someone getting his mates some publicity. The gap between the WPL and our league is a chasm.

A 30 year old bloke has more potential? I think he's hit his potential. It's the level he's at.

As Cymru said, some of these lads are just playing at a very low level.

Harri has time on his side. He was playing regularly in the shrewsbury academy and managed to gain a scholarship at a time when they halved the number they gave out. I think they may have had a changed of manager at his age group and for some reason he has been shipped out. He is a midfielder but has also played at fullback this season.

Didn’t know he was 30. Still good though.

Don't understand the negative comments on futsal. The standard of players playing international futsal is very good.

Max Killman Plays for Maidenhead also plays futsal and Connor matches him

Adam Ryan Dawson has won the conference with Bristol Rovers and Ryan Williams played in the championship with Brentford. Connor is ahead of these guys on a futsal court but not sure if he would make it 11 a side as he doesn't play it

We had a Futsal showboating type last season. Other than one away game on a 3G pitch, Callum Powell did a lot of running but was not anywhere near the standard required to make it as a pro.
