If you have season long loans what’s the difference to someone on a one year contract ?

What’s clear now is that the club must have doubts about Ricketts - they are not, given the Ward money, reviewing his paltry budget and are only allowing loan signings at this point.

Why is that clear foxy ? Perhaps they have discussed with him and he wants to go ahead as planned rather than making knee jerk signings that might unbalance what he has put together.

Clear in your head maybe.
Let’s face it there’s plenty of empty space in it.
My opinion, of course.

Or perhaps we are yet to receive the money can't spend what you haven't got

This, Leicester probably are paying Liverpool in installments therefore we'll get the sell on money in installments.

We don't own them, and any development the young lads make won't benefit us financially.

Other than this we're supposed to a well run club off the field. Attendances last season were up on the target, season ticket sales are once again good, btb is running again and the concert was run to pay the rent.

Our youth scheme is stuck in stasis and everything is being poured into the first team. Pyke and Hinds are probably low cost or free, we won't be paying all of Beavon's wage and I doubt Lainton is on much (if we're paying his full wage). In total our loan players are 21% of our 19 man 'squad'.

You might be right if we were looking at making these players part of our plans long term, or you were seeing a serious boost in quality. Of the three we've got, one is a goalkeeper made of glass, another is the definition of over the hill and the one with potential is one we've already had to no effect. All this in a tiny squad. It has the air of desperation.

Already had to no effect is stretching a point. As to over the hill - Ronaldo is in his 34th year and I guess we’d take him
The loan system has been well used in recent years by a number of promoted sides and why not us ? Once in the FL is the time to earmark some of the additional income for youth development.
