Default Ratings thread - Chesterfield (H)

A very good, gritty 3 points. We weren't at our best but championship-winning teams pick up maximum points when they're not at their best, so it's a good sign.

Here's how I thought the players rated:

Lainton - 6: Kept a clean sheet, made some good catches but kicking and general distribution was very poor today. 6 from me because he didn't concede.
Kennedy - 6: Good on the ball and made some important tackles, like the early one to deny Fortuné. A few dodgy moments (like an awful header back to Lainton) could have come back to bite him on the arse, and wasn't great going forward, but he's natural centre-back so that comes with the transition.
Lawlor - 7: Another solid game from him. Impressed with the way he dealt with the massive sh*thouse which is Tom Denton.
Pearson - 7: Regular performance from Pearson, kept Scott Boden quiet and contributed as normal to the clean sheet.
Jennings - 7: He's been pretty good since Hughes took over. Another good game down the left, even though Tollitt wasn't much help today.
Walker - 7: Read the game well and played some good passes, even if his one shocking pass a game made big problems.
Wright - 7: My MOTM. Got his goal, battled hard for the ball and never stopped working. He can be hit or miss but he pips the rest of the 7/10s for MOTM today. Nearly scored a spectacular own goal but thankfully it was off target.
Young - 6: Other than the assist, he was kept relatively quiet. He does offer a forward presence other midfielders we have don't have, though.
Rutherford - 6: Decent today, especially in the 2nd half. Started a lot of attacks with his mazy runs although end product was lacking.
Tollitt - 5: Not a great game. Could have scored in the first half but tried to skim Jalal for a tap-in. He's got moments of genius in him but his decision making lets him down, sometimes.
Beavon - 6: Won a few flick ons against the lumbering centre halves Chesterfield played, and caused problems, although wasn't too effective.

SUBS:
Oswell - 5: Alright but didn't benefit from the fact we were happy with the 1-0 by the time he came on.
Holroyd - 5: Same as Oswell but not on for as long.

All in all, decent victory. Glad we beat Chesterfield just for that one prick who decided to yell during the silence.

Mostly agree except 5 for jennings for his passing in the first half and increase Rutherford to a 7.

Lainton - 6 - not the best kicks but a clean sheet!

Kennedy - 7: looks a quality signing. A couple of mistakes... but bar from that will do the job for us in league 2.

Lawlor - 7: solid as usual

Pearson 7 - Same old. Good to see him back from his injury.

Jennings - 7: Linked up well with Tollit. Love his passion for the club!

Walker - 6: Not his best game by his usually very high standards. Still did well and some brilliant passes, except for the interception

Wright - 8: Well taken goal. played a more attacking role and was a real nuisance in midfield.

Young - 6: Did well with the assist. Worked hard!

Rutherford - 8: My MOM...this guy never runs out of steam. Awesome play to help create the goal. Covered every blade of grass

Tollitt - 7: Always tries to beat his man and usually suceeds. A real asset at this level.

Beavon - 7: quiet 1st half. But usual Beavon 2nd half.. causing problems and winning balls against much taller defenders

Only a couple of 7 ratings today IMO.
6s probably a fair reflection of most performances given the meaning of a 6 by most.
Lainton not much to do but catching was spot on.
Back 4 solid enough, Pearson a rock.
Midfield 3 could have provided more urgency but thankfully the goal came from them.
Beavon the most effective forward but not much help or supply from the other 2.
Oswell and Holroyd both tried to fit in and helped see game out.

about 6/7 for all of them a good gritty team performance

Chesterfield fan who interupted 1 min silence shouting sheepshaggers at us scores a 0

Wright is fine disrupting the opposition attacks and is now putting himself in scoring positions but give him time on the ball and he panics, he did it again today.

Note to Wrexham players, DON'T pass to Akil.

Today's MOM should have been Rutherford, could have been Beavan, but Akil????
