I thought that it was pressure from his Auntie Jean that persuaded him to leave.

We could be sitting top of the pile comfortably had we made better choices in the boardroom. Poor signings this jan and last jan have also proved costly.
This summer we atleast need a change in structure there should be a complete reshuffle all current board members who have been in position since the wst took over need to step aside, we need a fresh start.

I feel for the lad. He left us for more money and his home town club - most of us would do that. Managers should get a set term, because sacking them early makes a mockery of our game. Look at WAFC! My views on Keates do seem to be a minority view on RP - why are you lot so bitchy? Short memories.

I feel very much like you . Despite rumours that he wasnt helpful before the Trophy final ,I think quite highly of him,and for one ,I am dissappointed he couldn't make a go of it at Walsall.

Grateful for the job he done here getting rid of Millsys misfits, really feared we could of got dragged into a relegation dog fight with them players.

No major issues him leaving style of play wasn’t inspiring and was pretty dull and got found out at a higher level, fair play he’s given it a go at his boyhood club.

Walsall are punching above their weight in league 1 probably with one of the smallest budgets

He steadied the ship and stopped us getting embroiled in a relegation fight, built a fantastic defence and then got us challenging at the top way quicker than anyone could have expected, even if it was not pretty to watch, and laid the foundations for us challenging again this year. It was one of those things with his boyhood club, he might never have had a chance managing that high again (and May now never again). One of my enduring memories of watching Wrexham is him coming back on to play on with a dislocated shoulder. All the best to the lad.

Absolutely.

There's so much nonsense on this thread. Whilst I don't want Keates back here, I get why he went. No animosity from me.
