If Aldershot were top in March, the 4th in April would be considered poor, especially when compounded by limping out in the first round of the playoffs.

Luck quite often goes with good decision making in sport.

Hitting the bar twice in the play off isnt bad luck its bad play. How many times has it been said - hit the F target. Disallowed goal is just down to current rules about no contact with the keeper. Even if minimal.

We lost because we failed to score in 120 minutes.
I think we used up a lot of luck earlier in the season.

People forget we've been down here 11 years about to head into out 12th season! We're not an ex league club anymore, we're as conference as it comes.

That was never a foul on the goalie... never. We should also have had a penalty. We've then lost it to a worldie. That doesn't happen every week.

That said, in many ways the game was our season in 90 minutes. Lots of effort, lots of running but ultimately we couldn't score in the big games.

PS - we didn't finish 4th by luck. We finished 4th because over 46 games we were the 4th best team in the league.

Fair points, you make your own luck and all that (although I am not sure you can "use up" luck.)

I think the point I was making in respect of the Barrow/Ricketts/Hughes situation, which I think has ultimately cost us, maybe we would have handled it better but alot of it was kicked off by something beyond our control.

Off topic I know, but a mate of mine was a guest at the recent Leicester v Arsenal game and had access to the players lounge. I told him if he sees Vardy to tell him he was very lucky not to be sent off for a very bad challenge on Nat Percival-Knight back in 2012. He did see him and told him - Vardy just laughed.
