Generally well received may be pushing it. He did have his fans, for some reason, but a LOT of people were expressing concern (in fairness, probably you loudest of all) in the below thread from p12 onwards.

The only thing I did say, and still maintain, is that Barrow wanted MN so I guess to a point from the outside looking in they had to back him.

Thing is we dont really know what the hell is going on, only those directly involved in the process do and they allowed all this bollocks to happen.

I think appointing MN as an Assistant Manager pales into insignificance compared to appointing Davies, Barrow, Hughes and Keates (2nd) time as the actual manager.
