Thats an average though surely?
Turning a tanker around isnt always easy ,and for me I think its fair to say its about facing the other way now !!
Some people will never accept that he went and came back ,in whatever manner they perceive !!

The only reason I didn't want Keates back was the style of football he promoted.
I suppose it's a lot to do with the type of football I expect from a Wrexham side. ( though in 60 odd years I've seen some crap at times.
I do however see signs of change in style, especially with the players he's brought in. He still (in my opinion) lacks a tactical awareness as seen by poor judgement with the subs or lack of subs at Chesterfield and the introduction of Wright and Summerfield last Saturday when we'd got a ball playing midfielder sat on the bench.
Can't fault the effort from the players and maybe, just maybe he's learning from past mistakes. In many respects he's still a rookie.

To help him with this, he's brought players in. New players, with new enthusiasm etc help drive a change in culture. These players are also better than previous squad members.

Repeating your mantra re. we're still in a relegation battle is true but is also too simplistic. This season, we are only 2 points off the final points tally for the team that finished 21st with 11 games left. The league is squashed with very little difference for this stage in the season with only 10 points separating 7th and 20th. so even though we've improved, others have too.

Bartonbank's stats showed that we're clearly getting better. While I wish we were further up the table it would be churlish to say we haven't seen a big improvement since Hughes' reign.
good post

Whatever any of us think of Keates he inherited a very poor squad created by the dreadful appointment of Hughes. Over the last 5 games any team has played in the league only, Halifax and Boreham Wood have a better record than us. Got to be progress in my book.

Keates has done very well, anyone who says otherwise has an agenda that they simply can't see past. Don't care if you like the man or not, or agree with his appointment, he has made us better and the results show that. Also those saying 'its easy when you throw money at it' - well it wasn't easy for Hughes who spent a lot during the summer? Keates is still having to use a budget that is paying Redmond a large sum, he has been without Hooper for large parts who is taking up a big wage - Jazzi and Oswell still being paid, as were Barton and McIntosh before he was able to ship them out - not to mention Grant.

Also ironic all the posters saying 'why is he signing kids, we are in a relegation scrap' etc, but give no credit to Keates and the club for bringing in players like Jarvis, Dunn, Ponticelli who are clearly helping us move up the table. I'm by no means a Keates messiah or super-fan but he has turned us around and even the atmosphere within the group looks better (especially the body language from Saturday which was much improved).

In the league his record is 40% win ratio I think. Since the beginning of December in the League about 58% win ration. We should have won against some of the other teams around us, no excuse. I am not a fan of DK as manager, great as Captain and Player, he bored me to death with his negetive football in his first spell. I have not been back since April 2018, always said I would not return if he was manager. Will he make me eat my words, results since early December could mean I have my mouth full or am I being to optimistic.

Time will tell if it was a good decision to bring him back, but for it was logical if not exciting. 33% win ratio doesn't make him a bad manager either, not forgetting in his short managerial career he has inherited 3 struggling squads, heading in the wrong direction. It is taking longer than hoped to turn things around and I think any decent manager including BH could have kept us up by retaining BHs squad, they should have been good enough certainly once Lainton & Hooper were fit and if a settled defence could be achieved. I have said previously DK was brave and decided to make umpteen changes to an underperforming squad and it was always going to take time and a bit of luck with injuries.

We are certainly brighter now, scoring a bit more freely and keeping more blank sheets so fingers crossed, we have turned a corner and we can kick on next season.
