He is a midfield bosser.

BIG-SPENDING Wrexham are on the hunt for two more new signings ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline after strengthening with James Jones and Ben Tozer.

The Dragons stretched their financial muscles to snap up the pair from League One clubs this week.

Jones, a 25-year-old midfielder from Lincoln City, penned a three-year deal on Tuesday and then the National League side landed Cheltenham Town captain Tozer just 24 hours before their 2-0 win at Eastleigh.

Wrexham reportedly forked out £200,000 for the 31-year-old centre-back, who was thrown straight into the starting line-up yesterday along with Jones, having joined the group for training on Friday at Southampton.

“I thought he was excellent today,” said manager Phil Parkinson. “He’s a good player, we wanted someone at the back who could pass it, it’s so important. Equally those players who can pass it, you lose a bit of height and physicality but he’s got both. He’s good in the air but he gives us a real calmness in possession.

“Ben showed a real desire to become part of this project and journey we’re embarking on.

“To get the better players who are going to make a difference, you’ve got to fight hard and credit to the owners for back us to do it and Shaun Harvey for negotiating it. JJ was good and gave us what we wanted – running power in midfield. They both fitted in really well.”

Wrexham, due to being under the jurisdiction of the Welsh FA, have until midnight on Tuesday to make any further transfers.

“We need a couple more players, there’s certain gaps which we’re not happy with yet,” said Parkinson. “We had two additions this week and we’re a lot happier but it’s going to be a busy few days for us.

“Hopefully we can add that extra quality because you could see today that quality from [Paul] Mullins, the ball through to [Jake] Hydey, that separates teams. The more quality we get, the better.”

26 quality players is an ideal number I reckon.
I think it will be 27 professionals , I forgot Kwame. I don't think even Saunders got close to that, not at any one time anyway.

09-10, Saunders played 32 different players in the league. Not to mention other people in the squad who weren’t played.

Mullins?!

Good positive interview. He hasn't even said "we go again" yet. I think I really like our new manager.

I think we have 26 pros at the moment, but that includes Kwame, Polish Dave and Austin, Cleworth and Bickerstaff who will probably be loaned out.

Where's JägerRed when we need him. Redinsaudi has been a reliable source in the past, but it's been JägerRed that has got everything right recently.
