Overreaction
Following, and maybe because of, such a positive summer, there seems to be a surprising amount of negativity on here, much more than I would have expected and not just the usual suspects. For those who are particularly negative, what is the key concern? Posted via mobile theme |

Re: Overreaction
First games are always like this - if we win we'll be champions - if we lose we'll struggle. In fact neither are probably the case.
That said - It was disappointing because as soon as anyone who knows anything about Wrexham saw the team sheet - they knew we'd struggle to create. I'm a big Keates fan so I was doubly disappointed he didn't see that as a problem - That just wasn't our best 11 out there |

Re: Overreaction
For me the game reflected what we saw in preseason: lack of creativity in midfield, lack of goal threat and inability to keep a clean sheet. We have a better squad than last year but it needs work, in particular midfield needs a rethink.

Re: Overreaction
I seen a few bits of play that gave me some encouragement and I'm more than willing to be patient. But I was concerned with Carrington starting, I don't rate him. He's an okay right back for cover and mediocre midfielder if we are desperate.
Him and Rutherford I was hoping were signed for cover only. If they are regular starters I will begin to question Keates on his tactics. |

Re: Overreaction
For me no-one played particularly badly, but we were hamstrung by a terrible decision to go with Carrington and Wedgebury in midfield sitting so deep. They got a goal from nothing and were content to sort of sit and play out the game. Hopefully we will see Keates change things and allow us to play as we undoubtedly have players with quality. No more playing Kelly out wide as he's so much more effective as a creative player in a more central position . Losing Holroyd so early didn't help either as he was causing problems.
