Isn’t it the reality that he is the only one with a pro licence ?

Apparently from this season onwards we are going to be sacking coaches rather than managers if the team doesn't perform......

I guess there are different types of coaches. From what is said in the email and in this thread, it sounds more like Carl is a fitness coach, as opposed to coaching the players’ style/tactics like say Darren Caskey was when he was here with the orange one.

I think 99.9% of fans myself included will have no idea what responsibilities each of our managers, assistants and coaches have had, and where the dividing line is between them all particularly on things like tactics, formation etc, as every club and every management team will be different in this division. It then makes it unfortunate when fans are criticising people for things they may not be responsible for! I’d certainly love to know more about Carl’s role for us.

Fair point but I guess DK would have still liked him alongside him.

Just remembered I was meant to be staying off RP for the summer! Back to that then ha ha!

Yes, we weren't very pretty to watch on the pitch or indeed particularly effective, but its not the coach that decides the tactics. That was all down to Keates and Darlington has been on record as saying he has a different approach but essentially Keates has the final word.

If we have a manager and assistant manager with the right mindset and way of playing then I'm sure someone with Darlington's credentials will prove invaluable.
Agree. CD helps take us out of the Stone Age and into the 21st Century.

Great news!

I don’t understand the negativity from some. Everyone is agreed that Darlington is obviously good at his day job which is to coach coaches (ie help coaches improve their skills). Surely, he’s therefore going to be an asset to a young coach/manager like Keates and Ricketts. If all Darlington does is help them to become better coaches, and improve the coaching structure, then he will have done a worthwhile job which at one- or two- days a week doesn’t cost us very much.

You don't need a Pro Licence to manage at this level. An A Licence , which Rickets already has will suffice.
