What the hell does this mean? If it's meant to be a poem it's crap. Doesn't even rhyme.

Here goes...I think it’s a positive signing! A striker who clearly knows where the goal is even if he doesn’t know how to keep out of the referees notebook!! The lad clearly needs to sharpen up on his geography but if he knows where the net is who cares!! Now need to get in some speed and some strength - two players will do as cannot see us affording both in one. Then need cover at GK and CB plus a central midfielder who doesn’t sit on top of the back four...a true central midfielder! Beyond this would be a smart Assistant Manager and a few more fillers on loan. We’d be challenging this year. COYR!!

That at 11am, a new signing would be announced. The shirt notified me that the player would be a striker.
If you read anything else into it then that is your prerogative.

You do have to wonder where the £700k (rough estimate) in wages is going?

18 players average = £38k pa.

A proven striker could easily command over 50k which is probably why we're going to be bringing a few loanees in to reduce the average.

Well bring in a few loanees and you can pay a couple of strikers £95k pa based on the loanees being free, reduce this figure if we pay towards loanees wages. Thats the only way we can do it which is why previous managers have failed. Obviously if we had decent youth players we could provide more wages to a striker or two by offsetting the cheaper wages of youth players.

Fylde and Lincoln both used the loan markets well in the last few seasons and had top strikers as a result.

We could do worse than getting Johnny Smith back here for a season

Hypothetical situation...

1. A club sends out a tweet to announce/hint that a signing is imminent:

“One hour... #newnumber9”.

2. A club sends out a tweet to announce/hint that a signing is imminent. It’s a dramatically lit photo of a number 9 shirt hanging in an empty changing room. “One hour...” is the text, with a few signing/autograph emojies thrown in for good measure.

Now which one raises your excitement levels further? Which tweet leads you to think that the signing will be a really significant one that fans of said club would be absolutely delighted with considering weeks of waiting previously?

In marketing perception is everything...

It's not just 18 players, won't that budget include youth players, coaches, first team travel, any medical costs. Also the budget will include employer costs for NI, pension etc so nowhere near the £38k you guesstimate at
