Default Re: Harrogate (replay) Ratings and Reaction

Very slow cagey start - too much back and crossfield passing across our back line.

Cracking free kick from Maguire Drew - even better save from their keeper.

The introduction of Fondop gave us some much needed strength, height and hold up play down the middle - changed the game and made things happen for others.

Two well taken goals - could possibly have had more.

We defended well and other than a couple of decent chances mid way through the first half for them - the makeshift defence protected Lainton admirably - this without the influential Pearson playing.

First away defeat all season for our visitors - their number 4 Falkingham again shone and right winger number 12 looked useful especially first half.

Mold Road Stand looked packed to the rafters sitting within it - could not see many free seats at all. Only 43 Harrogate fans in a total attendance of a questionable total of 2,515.

Getting through to R2 was all that mattered - done without Pearson & Summerfield is even more impressive.

From the Leader:

Wrexham manager Sam Ricketts told BBC Radio Wales: "It was a fantastic finish from Akil, a back-heel a metre and a half off the ground... really pleased for him."

So, what's that then, 4 back-heeled goals scored by Wrexham this season out of 23? Amazing!

We need to embrace this type of football, and we are getting better at it with Lainton and our defenders being comfortable playing that way and well drilled. Everyone moans on here about hoofball, but unless a team can create space to pass through midfield then that is exactly what you get

I thought we started well and the tactic of keeping the ball and drawing them out, whilst creating space up field gave us control of the game early on and created a few half chances. We lost our way mid way first half because the ball was given away cheaply in the main by JMD and Harrogate did the same to us, controlled passing at the back. It meant they got control of the game and started to create chances, which fortunately they didn't convert. Yes second half we had a bit more purpose and energy which ultimately meant we ran out deserved winners but don't forget the other team can't score when they haven't got the ball

Id be looking to sign Walker permanent in January if we can, I think he’s a very good player who has become pivotal to us.

And you have to reduce it by 10% if it's cash sales, we can only use full capacity on all ticket which is why we have to buy actual tickets for normal games

This. I find it amazing that people can not grasp that by passing the ball across the back four and to the deep lying midfield player works by stretching teams, moving them about and creating space. Agree that at times we dont actually create anything further up the field from these situations but it is a 90 minute game and sadly we are not Manchester City
