My complaint is this:

We have been training at substandard facilities for 4/5 year? We have been told the council want the nine acre site back for development of a school and have offered us a small plot to build a new facility in the town centre.... (please correct me if I’m wrong).

We’ve had 4/5 years to plan for a new training facility and rather than use that time to find a plot, buy/lease it and build a basic facility (when I say basic I mean running water, electricity... that type of thing), we’ve done nothing. We will end up spending a small fortune on improving a site in the town centre that a team aspiring to go higher will outgrow rather quickly.
What is your alternative site and how would the club have paid for the purchase and development of it 4/5 years ago?

Maybe they could have asked uncle don for a loan? After all they don’t need a mandate to do that.

I feel like I’m repeating myself here but an alternative site is not for me to source. If i was part of the boardroom setup, maybe it would be. The board should be presenting the various plans to the owners, and the owners should be voting on which way they want to go.

Rather than pretty SMART objectives coloured in with felt tip pens, we could have actual plans which could then be voted on.

Isn’t that why we elect a board? If you want every decision to be voted upon, what’s the point of them being there?

Prehaps they could ask Man City to lease Carrington for free. Bury had it for 5 years with them only paying for the upkeep and would far surpass the inadequate Groves. It's sat empty at the minute.

Don’t recall suggesting “every decision” should need a vote? A decision that has a massive impact on the football clubs stature and long-term wellbeing then yes.

The training ground is massive for long term future of the football club.

Spencer’s go faster strips across the tunnel wall sum the club up perfectly. The club could be compared to my first car - Fancy wheels and a loud exhaust, all powered by a one litre engine that spluttered at anything over 60 miles an hour.

What would be the alternative site you’d have proposed which the fans could have voted for? Also what would have been the costs?

How much will the Groves rent cost? How much will the pitches cost to get up to standard? How much will it cost to have brand new self contained changing rooms, showers, toilets and onsite parking? How much does adequate fencing cost?

You seem to be keen with the idea of the groves so you must know all the costs involved.

You can keep asking the same question to me but I suggest putting it to the board. Surely the board has looked at numerous options and decided that the groves was the best one?

Maybe they can present that to the farmyard at the AGM? Are we fully past the “4 legs good, two legs better” part yet?

Wouldn’t most sites have similar costs to build infrastructure?

Surely the point is how much they cost to buy/lease, how easy it is to get planning permission, and whether the location suits?
