Any chairman in the current climate would be torn to shreds for making an Adam Rooney style signing while staff are coming back from furlough.

I agree we have to ditch Darlington and start with a clean slate; but I trust Keates will sign some good players, even if he doesn't last the season.

The quality of players will be a real gamble - a player with a decent scoring record from September-March may have fallen behind with fitness since lockdown. This season, more than ever, we need to target players who are used to being at the top end of the NL, or local players who will play out of their skin for Wrexham.

Any repeats of signing players with records like JBB, Adam Barton and McIntosh should be stamped out. Keates had the nous to freeze them out, so that bodes well.
I feel the opposite. If we were a well functioning football club with a manager that fans could get behind we might have more of a chance. As it stands the club is divided, fans are actively refusing to put money in and apathy is rife. I really do think we won't have the budget to compete at all

Suppose there one good thing with the lock down in Scotland we won't be scouting the cream attacking talents of the outer hebradies.

But how many people on 'the outside' are aware of that? The Weekly Updates aren't great, but I'd like to think outsiders aren't bored enough to read them

The only place you're going to find this information is on Facebook groups and Red Passion. As far as I know, these are not regular sources for agents/players.

If they are, then it's a miracle we've signed anyone at all

Well I do believe that agents, players, managers etc. are all put off by how incredibly poorly the club has been run. It speaks volumes that both the numbers and quality of our managerial applicants have dropped off a cliff.

I wasn't referring to the outside footballing world stopping us from competing more the lack of funds we'll have. Especially with a likely drop in season ticket sales

And that's where private ownership will assist others

Solihull dont seem too concerned offering season tickets for £100

Surely its the opposite? The rate we go through mangers will be a huge concern for a player. They might sign for us under Keates and he might have walked or been sacked by Christmas. At this club its highly likely they'll finish the season under a different manager than the one they started the season with. Then they might get frozen out etc because the new manager doesn't rate them.

Not sure about Chairman not spending because they've brought staff back from furlough either. If they're back and being paid what' the issue? I think that's wishful thinking.

I wouldn't read too much into Keates freezing out JBB, Adam Barton and McIntosh either. Everyone could see they weren't good enough apart from Bryan Hughes of course. I remember the first time I saw McIntosh play and after about 10 minutes it was clear as day he was way out of his depth.

NWG re Private owners assisting.

Some private owners might dip into their own external funds. Hate to say there will be other Private owners prepared to walk away from a sinking ship.
Perhaps fan ownership might help Wrexham's situation, provided willing fans are prepared to dip into their pockets. but for how long?

There are still sums of money in both the club and trust accounts . Although those funds are no doubt being put under strain week by week.

One mystery could be funding being allocated for the lease costs and development of the Groves training site. Which pot is that coming out of? and how much?
