Hughes however made a right pigs ear of it. I genuinely think I would have spent the money better, some of those players he signed.

Bobby Grant is probably a good shout as to where some of the budget went.
You need to look at the root cause for Hughes turning out to be a disastrous manager for Wrexham, the root cause being that he was appointed in the first place. And who's decision was it to appoint him?

One of Spencers wet dreams when he played for us. The Peaky Blinders are village hicks who think every ex Wrexham player makes a great manager.... Already on RP some cannot let go wanting another past it ex player back in Knight Percival, no longer good enough for Carlisle sorry let's move forward not backwards.

I am sure Hughes tried his hardest and wanted to succeed, however it was an appointment that made absolutely no sense. He pretty much ticked none of the boxes I would look for in a manager at this level, I also struggle to believe he gave a great interview. It is absolutely right those who made the decision are held to account for it.

Na you'd have signed Ruthers 'cos he's on buttons' so I disagree. You wouldn't be ruthless enough, you show us this every pre-season.
Where did I suggest it was his fault he was given the job? What a nonsense thing to suggest. As I have said twice now, OF COURSE it is not his fault he was given the job, file that as something we agree on. Now moving on from that, he did make a pigs ear of it. You are not suggesting otherwise are you?

Never once have I suggested I would resign Rutherford but I have instead guessed at why is he is kept on. Rutherford being here is not why we are so shite that's for sure. Bigger mistakes than that have been made in the recruitment process.

Is that a serious question? I don't think anybody has (or could) defend Hughes getting the job then or now. He was awful though, and he has to take personal responsibility for that.

Of course it is. Same with Barrow & Davies before it.

However it was clear from the start, to pretty much every bugger, that he was in way over his head.

I'd say the lion's share of the blame falls to those who employed him.
It was obvious

I was sat near the dugout for the Stockport game watching Jim Gannon & Bryan Hughes body language

I watched one of his training sessions a few weeks after he arrived and he was a shirker walking around the edge of nine acre with his hands in his pockets on his own, couldn’t even be bothered joining the players and the coach in the session taking place. Spencer justified his appointment to defend his own position saying how he got 2pts a game, but it was someone else’s team trained by other coaches. Once he had his summer recruiting his own players he was found to be disaster that we all knew he would be except Spencer, Jones and the Disciples.

What the hell are these directors doing allowing these decisions and not challenging these absurd appointments. It may of been Spencer’s child hood hero but not questioning and blocking this ridiculous style of hiring makes them all as bad as each other.

Anyone know what Hughes is doing now? After that spell in charge you would have to think he would never manage again.

Said at the time of his appointment that i lad i work with who played with him at Birmingham said you could not think of anyone less likely to be a manager than Hughes. Sadly right and the repercussions of that appointment will damage the club for years to come.

I sat next to the dugout for a game when my daughter was mascot and Jussi was still here.. Hughes had that same demeanour then. I watched him more than I watched the game... Jussi was calling the shots, the rest of the bench barely uttered a word throughout.
