We would need a frontline of Messi, Mbappe and Haaland to compete with our current incompetence in the back. Not sure if a guy on NL Hartlepool is going to make enough difference. Armstrong's highlights make him look like more of a poacher. Waters was also a poacher. I didn't see any highlights of him breaking down the defense or scoring from long distance.
Have you been drinking absinthe?

And without SPM the attack is crocked. Back to the drawing board.

Oh wow we've got a statistician! Jordan Davies is on pace to score 46 goals this season which ought to make him the guaranteed League 2 golden boot in any other season, unfortunately MK Dons' Leko is on pace to smash that by scoring 92.

O'Connell is on pace to score 46 own goals this season which will also set a record. I think Parky should drop him based on that which will at least protect our goal difference a bit.

Using a single data point to predict the future is fun.

I think we’re all aware we need a striker

Nothing compared to Bryce Hosannah who if he plays every league game is on course for over 380 assists ! Keep him fit and he'll set us up for the prem.

The whole team is off kilter without Mullin. Its crazy that one player makes that much difference but IMO he does.
He harasses defenders so they daren't venture forward too much in support of their attacks. He tracks back and makes important challenges.
Obviously he can create something out of nothing.
But when he is defending from the front it frees the midfield up to take control of the game. Lee was regularly caught in possession on Saturday, Jones often was running into brick walls.
When defenders are having to keep an eye on a dangerous striker and deal with midfielders running at them, mistakes happen. Its exactly what MK Dons did to us.

When the midfield is more composed and has more time, then they also can protect the back 5 more. The ball isn't always coming at them creating pressure points.

Unfortunately Waters doesn't seem as tenacious as Mullin up front (no slight to him as its not his gamestyle) and maybe playing Dalby alongside him was an error of judgement too. palmer gets in defences faces much more, not allowing them to settle as much.

Once Mullin is fit and back i'm sure we will see us take more control over games and perform at a level similar to last season.

Or we strike it lucky and find a similar replacement in the meantime.

Mullin is a master of leaning into defenders and emerging with the ball, he is so crafty. I noticed Waters tried it a few times and nothing came off. The whole thing just felt flat without Mullin even from the start.
