Exactly right. Barnett knew they'd be running in on goal 3 versus 1 if he'd have lost the ball and that's why he had to try and lunge in.

I've only seen the one from a mile away too but this is all the appeal panel will need to see to say that the ref has not made an obvious mistake. His foot is on top of the Crewe player's ankle. Yes, the Crewe player lunged in too but the appeal process just needs to be able to see why he gave it. If the ref has put in his report that the 4th official told him that Barnett stamped on his ankle, they'll look at that and say, 'You can see why he said that, no obvious mistake has been made.'

Can't see what else he could have done if you watch the footage two players were closing him down he had to play the way he was facing, class pass in my opinion, Barney's first touch let him down, yellow card worth an appeal, we have Forde to come in more than adequate replacement if appeal is unsuccessful.

To be honest I don't think we should appeal if there is a possibility of suffering further penalties.
It's early in the season, we have more than adequate cover for Barnett.
Just take the hit and carry on.
If it was a play off game and/or it was a crucial member of the team I can understand wanting to appeal.

If its worth a yellow it's a pointless appeal, they don't downgrade red to yellow cards.

I also don’t see anything wrong with the pass from Evans, it’s different to what we normally see, but I think it did the job. Barnett has to do better there, but we all make mistakes.

We would be stupid to appeal and risk an extra game. It's a definite red card.

I’ve not seen the incident played back so I have no opinion as to whether it was a red or not. Live it just looked like a coming together, both players missing the ball, but what I think influenced the referee was that Barney had made a couple of lunges prior to this challenge.
