Re: January and the three weaknesses
Issues in Jan could be addressed in a number of ways.
Contract negotiations for next season, extensions or possible leavers. Return of loans that expire or can be terminated. Sign a loan on permanent. Use of loan system to another club. Selling a player. Mutual decisions if not part of long term plans. Incomings depends on Sams short term needs and possible longer term using Ward money available. I expect him to make changes as he does seem to want and need improvement. Interesting Nov to Jan ahead with fixture list and transfer window. |

Re: January and the three weaknesses
I said in the summer but Ashley Chambers would be ideal for the wide position in a 433. He has pace and his scoring record at both Nuneaton and Kidderminster has been great. He’s still only 28.

Re: January and the three weaknesses
If a prolific striker signed for us from TNS (say) where he was regularly awarded an 8 against poor opposition, assuming that he played as well for us as he did with TNS but was now up against much stronger defenders and scored fewer goals as a result, would he be given a lower rating? Just wondering.

Re: January and the three weaknesses
As I think someone pointed out we shouldn't forget players that are here already and sort out contract extensions before January for those we aim to keep.
The striker position does need resolving. Too much rotation. Only Beavon stands out as class but he is not a prolific goal scorer. Beavon with Quigley might work. I would (subject to availability) make Blackpool a cash offer then see if they can sort something out with Port Vale. Give him an 18 month contract - no longer. Send out or back : Deverdics, Burgess, Hinds, Leo Smith. Retain Walker if possible. I doubt we are going to find a creative midfielder so maybe look at moving LukeYoung or Summerfield higher up the field and use JMD more as a winger. |
